Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Braking System Installation - 2014 Ram 1500- Video
Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we've got a 2014 Ram 1500, and we're gonna be taking a look at, and I'm gonna show you how to install the Demco Stay-in-Play DUO supplemental braking system. Now, the reason why you'll want to go with any braking system for your Ram 1500 is because, if you're flat-towing your Ram, you want the vehicle to be able to stop itself while the RV is stopping itself. So, the design of the Stay-in-Play DUO is it will apply pressure to the brakes on your Ram 1500, when you depress the brakes on the inside of the RV. This is what your system's gonna look like when it's installed. The main operating unit, which is this box right here, is gonna be the bulk of the installation, outside of the vehicle. more

The five main components of flat towing a vehicle are going to be your base plate, which attaches to the vehicle, your tow bar, your braking system, your diode wiring, and your safety chains. Now each of these components are gonna play a part in safely towing your vehicle down the road. Your base plate is going to allow you to connect your tow bar to it. Your tow bar will also connect to your motor home. more

Demco Air Force One Braking System Installation - 2021 Ram 1500- Video
Hi there, Ram owners. Today on your 2021 Ram 1500, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Demco's Air Force One supplemental braking system. Demco's Air Force One supplemental braking system is going to be the ideal braking system if your motorhome has air brakes. This system was specifically design to work with motorhomes that have air brakes and will be a truly proportional braking system that will take that air pressure that's coming from your motorhome and use that pressure to give you a dynamic press of the pedal inside your vehicle here. So that means the harder you press the brakes in your motorhome, the harder the brakes are gonna apply here in the vehicle. So you get a very smooth response and with it being specifically designed for air brakes, that also means it's gonna work properly with your engine brake when you're braking. more

Now, all that means is, whenever we go and we're pulling it, and we go to stop, we're asking our motor home to do a lot of work. You'll need your tow bar, which is the connection between your motor home and your vehicle; your safety cables, which is a supplemental connection in addition to your tow bar; your diode wiring, which takes all the lighting signals from your motor home, transfers them to your vehicle so they can be seen at the back of the vehicle, so people around you will know your intentions when going down the road; and lastly, your supplemental braking system, which will apply the existing brakes on your vehicle when you apply the brakes in your motor home to help it to come to a seamlessly smooth stop.Now, our customer opted for Demco's base plate, which is a great base plate. It looks great when it's installed, but there's one major flaw with it that I just didn't really like, and that's the bracket that it provides with you to mount your wiring. I ended up not using that bracket as it comes off the side and it just looks kind of goofy. more

Your supplemental braking system is one of five main components you'll need when flat towing your vehicle behind your motor home. In addition to your braking system, you'll also need your base plate, which gives you the connection point on your vehicle to hook up your tow bar, your tow bar, which provides the connection between your base plate and your motor home, your safety cables, which is a supplemental connection in addition to your tow bar, and your diode wiring, which takes all the motor home lighting signals and sends them to the back of your vehicle so people behind you will know your intentions when going down the road.This particular supplemental braking system here is designed for motor homes that have air brakes. The connection that you see here is actually tied into the air brake system on our motor home and provides an air signal back to our supplemental braking system to activate the brakes. It's truly proportional with this air supply, so that way the harder you press your brakes in the motor home, the air varies depending on that brake pressure there, which allows the brake pressure that your vehicle is applying to its brakes to match that of the motor home.So you can see here that when I press the brake in my motor home, it's going to apply the activating cylinder located on the brake back in our vehicle. more

Now this is the Demco base plate. What I like about it is when we're not using our tow bar and all of our other components, and we're just driving around town, this isn't going to be very bulky. SMI Air Force One Braking System Installation - 2015 Ram 2500- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Ram 2500, we're going to be taking a look at, I'm going to show you how I installed the SMI Air Force One Supplemental Braking System for motor homes with air brakes, part number SM99243. Here's a look at the main component of our braking system. The actuator is going to provide a proportional force on our brakes in our towed vehicle. What that means is, while we are traveling, when we apply our brakes in our RV, our braking system in our towed vehicle will match the amount of force being applied. That will allow our towed vehicle to stop on its own rather than the RV stopping both vehicles, in turn, saving the brakes on the RV.Now that we're hooked up to our RV, I'm going to apply the brakes in the RV to make sure the indicator light is working properly. The indicator light should be seen through the rear view camera on the RV as you're traveling. more

Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit Installation - 2017 Ram 1500- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Ram 1500 Rebel we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Stoplight Switch Kit. This is from Roadmaster. Part number is RM-751467. The reason we need to utilize this is the brake pedal itself goes cold after the vehicle sits for a while. We need the monitor light wire to send a signal whenever this brake pedal moves down. We want a signal to come up to our monitor light and our buzzer that's going to be inside the RV. more

Roadmaster InvisiBrake Braking System Installation - 2017 Ram 1500- Video
Speaker 1: Today, in our 2017 Ram 1500 Rebel, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Roadmaster InvisiBrake. This is a supplemental braking system for towed vehicles. Part number is RM-8700. Now the importance of a supplemental braking system comes from the fact that you've got lot of weight behind your motor home traveling at highway speeds. Motor homes are designed with braking systems to stop themselves at those speeds, but not necessarily with the additional weight of the vehicle we're hauling. This tends to extend the braking distance making it less safe. more
